POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist senior Girma Segni (Bronx, N.Y.) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Male Cross Country Co-Runner of the Week on Monday. Segni finished ninth at the Iona College Meet of Champions on Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park, setting a new school record for the 8K course. Segni shared the honor with Iona's Mohamed Khadraoui.

Segni's time of 25:01.4 on the 8K course eclipsed the school's previous record time of 25:11 set in 1998. He finished ninth overall out of 277 runners, guiding Marist to a sixth-place finish as a team out of 29 teams. Marist's team finish was the highest in school history at the meet. Segni's record-breaking effort led the Red Foxes to its best top-five combined performance in school history. The top-five combined time of 2:08:48 eclipsed the previous best of 2:09:40.2.

The Red Foxes return to action on Friday, October 3, at the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University.
