POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.-- Marist Director of Aquatics Larry J. VanWagner announced that Elizabeth Piggott (Staatsburg, N.Y./F.D. Roosevelt High School) will be coming to Marist and joining the women's swimming and diving program in the fall of 2008. Piggott is transferring from Niagara University after one year as a Purple Eagle and will be a sophomore when the school year begins.

Piggott, who competes in sprint freestyle events, will be a business major and is looking forward to attending Marist.

"I chose Marist because it is close to home, and it is great for both academics and athletics. It's a great place to be a student-athlete."

A member of the Dean's List during her year at Niagara, Piggott was also member of the National Honor Society at F.D. Roosevelt. She was a rower on the crew team at Roosevelt in addition to being a three-year varsity swimmer. As a senior, she was named the Swimming Athlete of the Year and was a member of the medley relay team that finished fifth at the New York State Championships.
